Eighty Percent (80%) Of RNs Say Hospitals Need More RNs

SAN FRANCISCO CA -August 11, 2009 - (ASRN.ORG) --In a national online survey conducted by the American Society of Registered Nurses, 80% of the Registered Nurses surveyed said their hospitals were short-staffed of RNs.

In a nationalwide survey of 537 Registered Nurses conducted on August 11, 2009, 46% said they were "badly" short-staffed of RNs at their hospitals, and 34% said they were "very" short-staffed of Registered Nurses. Five percent (5%) of the RNs surveyed said they were " a little" short-staffed, while 15% said they "weren't" short-staffed at all.

This internet survey of 537 Registered Nurses was conducted on August 11, 2009 by the American Society of Registered Nurses (ASRN). The margin of sampling error for the survey is + / - 4 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
