Half of nurses have considered leaving their profession, feeling overworked being the most common reason, according to a recent survey.
A large travel nursing company, polled more than 600 nurses via email, most of whom were 22 to 55 years old.
Participants also noted that respect is important for job satisfaction, with 50% of nurses who considered leaving reporting that they do not feel respected by administration. In addition, 45% of nurses said they had been verbally harassed or bullied by other nurses.
The survey discussed the national nursing shortage -- 1.2 million nursing vacancies are estimated to develop through 2022. Three-quarters of respondents thought that lowering costs of nursing school would help alleviate the shortage.
